Privacy Policy

The short version: PauseOS runs entirely on your device. There is no account, no cloud sync, and no PauseOS server that receives your usage data, journal entries, or anything else you enter into the app. The only network requests the app makes are a one-time font download and an email you choose to send yourself. Everything else described below happens locally, on your phone.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to PauseOS, an Android and iOS app published by Prahari Labs ("we," "us"). It explains what data the app accesses, why, and — most importantly — what we don't do with it.
Data we do not collect
PauseOS has no user accounts, no login, no backend server, and no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. We cannot see your usage patterns, journal entries, or app data, because they never leave your device. There is nothing for us to sell, and nothing for us to be breached.
What PauseOS stores, and where
All app data lives in a local database inside PauseOS's private app storage on your device (not in shared storage, not backed up to a PauseOS server). It includes:

| Focus session and Commitment records | Tracks focus timer sessions, interruptions, and commitments you set for yourself. |
| Daily ritual entries (morning intentions / night reflections) | Powers the Rituals screen. |
| Settings and preferences | Remembers your tracked apps, toggle states, and display name. |
You can delete individual journal entries at any time from within the app. Uninstalling PauseOS permanently deletes all of this data, since it only ever existed on your device.

Accessibility Service
PauseOS uses Android's Accessibility API for one purpose: to detect when you open an app you've chosen to track, so it can show the Conscious Unlock pause screen. The service only observes which app/window comes to the foreground. It does not read your screen content, messages, passwords, or anything you type, and it does not perform any action on your behalf. This is a digital-wellbeing feature, not an assistive technology for users with disabilities.
Usage Access
Used to show your app-usage statistics and to populate the list of installed apps you can choose to track. This data is read locally and is never transmitted anywhere.
Display over other apps
Used to show the Conscious Unlock pause screen on top of whatever app you just opened.
Microphone and speech recognition
Used only if you choose to speak a Mind Dump entry instead of typing it. Audio is processed by your device's built-in speech-recognition service to produce text; PauseOS itself does not record, store, or transmit audio.
Notifications
Used for behavioral nudges and reminders you can control in Settings.
Foreground service & run at startup
Keeps the app-detection service running reliably, including after your device restarts.
Network activity
The only network activity PauseOS's own code performs is:
- A one-time download of the Inter typeface from Google's font service the first time the app needs it. This request does not include any personal data.
- If you use the "Share your thoughts" feedback option, the text you write is sent
to a small Prahari Labs mail-relay service (
pauseos.praharilabs.com/api/feedback), which emails it to us. Nothing else on your device — no unlock history, identity trajectory, or journal entries — is included or ever transmitted.
Children's privacy
PauseOS is a reflective, behavioral-wellness app intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above and, for material changes, note it in the app's release notes.
